Mat Lalonde Ancestral Health Symposium
It’s been a while since I have been truly captivated by a health and fitness personality. After watching Mat Lalonde at the inaugural Ancestoral Health Symposium, I was speechless.
I owe much of my health and fitness success to the Paleo Diet ideology, so is it fair to question it’s scientific significance?
While it’s nice to picture living and eating like cavemen (simple visual) are paleo diet recommendations based on true science?
Mat Lalonde eats a diet similar to what we call paleo, but isn’t satisfied with the mainstream explanation for doing so.
If you have any science background, or just want to listen to a dude that knows what the hell he is talking about, please check out this video.
If you are a nutrition newbie, just fast forward to the last 10 minutes!
Cheers,

Jordan,
This guy is obviously very smart and knows what he’s talking about. I didn’t watch the entire clip, just the first and last 10 minutes, but it’s interesting to see a scientist’s perspective on Paleo. This really helps shape an objective view of the lifestyle, which is important.

What would you say was the most important insight from the speech?
The most important insight from the speech is that a food shouldn’t be shunned just because it was not consumed by our ancestors. For example…Butter!
This guy really knows his stuff! It’s funny how the more you know, the less clear cut things become, and he illustrates this well.
I think often the quest for a definitive answer is really more about the fact that if we have one we no longer have the burden of thinking, and finding our own answer.
At the end of the day for me it’s about learning to make the choices that work for you and your goals without being too attached to a particular food philosophy. However you eat, it’s really just a means, not the end in itself.
Michael
Hi Michael,
It is crazy. I have had similar thoughts lately. The more you know about a topic the more you discover. This leads to some harsh realizations sometimes! Totally agree that eating is just a means.
Cheers,
Jordan
