To achieve peak condition you must remain near your peak condition year round. As Fitness Black Book’s Rusty Moore likes to say,….”within striking distance”. I like the 5 lbs method. If I notice that my body weight moves 5 lbs away from the norm I simply adjust my routine accordingly.
Several boozy hours and two cheeseburgers (that Chan will have to seriously work off—”It sucks,” he says. “I love nothing more than eating and drinking beer”)
Not all movies require Tatum to have a washboard stomach, but when he plays a character that is supposed to be athletic or his shirt is coming off, he must look perfect. Here is a sample of what he needs to do to work off those cheeseburgers and beer he loves so much!

Channing Tatum carries out a program similar to cross fit, rather than follow a resistance training routine with specific repetition guidelines. His workouts are timed, using high intensity intervals that include active rest, and sessions rarely exceed 30 minutes in length.
Personal trainer William J Harris described Channing Tatum’s Routine with Men’s Health like this….
Day 1 – 6 sets performed as fast as possible of: ten pull-ups, 30 kettle bell swings, and 50 walking lunge steps.
Day 2 - 6 sets performed as quickly as possible of: 150 rope skips and 12-15 clean and jerks.
Day 3 – 5 sets done as fast as possible of: 100 mountain climbers, 75 push-ups, 50 sit-ups, and twenty five box leaps
When I read a workout routine described in so few words I tend to underestimate it. Big mistake. I tried the Day 3 workout and felt like I was going to die. Seriously 75 push ups! I guess that’s the price you pay to look like a movie star. Notice the exclusion of isolation moves, such as bicep curls, in favour of complete body movements.
2. Eliminate consumption of refined carbohydrates, such as bread, rice, and flour
3. Maximize consumption of excellent fats.
4. Reduce repeated exposure to potential allergenic foods, simply by selecting organic foods
5. Steer clear of dairy products

A Sample Meal Program Includes:
- Breakfast – veggie omelet, vegetarian lean beef patties, and also orange slices.
- AM snack – apple pieces and salt-less mixed nuts.
- Lunch – grilled bbq poultry breasts, spinach, along with a sweet potato.
- Afternoon snack – salt-less mixed almonds.
- Dinner – a turkey burger, broccoli, and peas.
- PM snack – unsalted almonds
Luckily Channing was a wonderful athlete in his teenage years, and even earned a football scholarship to Glenville State University located in West Va, but turned it down. His fitness track record supported him perfectly for some of his on-screen roles including his initial silver screen debut appearing along side Samuel L Jackson in Coach Carter.
Not sure if Channing Tatum has an Acadamy Awards in his future, but he continues to be a good fitness role model.
Please try the Day 1 workout. It’s killer!

I remember seeing Channing Tatum in G.I. Joe and the cast (men and women) were looking super fit. I guess they had to be as they were an elite military force.
The type of working Channing uses is awesome. High intensity and performing workouts in bursts really does help keep the body stay fit and look fit year round.
You mentioned the absence of biceps curls. I actually stayed away from biceps exercises for a good year some time back but kept doing back workouts, especially pull ups, and my biceps looked just fine, as if I was doing biceps exercises in my workouts.
I can see how Channing Tatum is able to maintain muscular arms while keeping pull ups as part of his workout routine.

I have tried to get away from bicep curls too, but I just like to throw them in still. Can’t help it! Love the pull ups too though.
Cool article … I definitely give that workout ago it sound challenging.
Good daily diet but gee he looks like he loves the unsalted nuts … I mean 3 times a day? ..anyhow it works!
Raymond
Haha, I gues he loves nuts. The rest of the diet seems reasonable though.

I think Channing is a great actor (I know a lot of people don’t think so). I think he does a great job preparing for his roles. I’m just a little curious what’s going to happen when he’s done with films…will the A,B,Cs still work?
Srdjan,
Thanks for your input. I think it will catch up to him eventually, but right now he is living the good life! The A B C’s will definately have to change. The workout is pretty decent though.

I like the simplicity of his eating plan. I have slowly moved towards this type of plan more by accident than on purpose, but the more you do it, the better you feel.
On the downside those hangovers seem a lot worse when you have been used to taking better care of yourself, so all the best to Channing with going back to the beers!
Michael
The eating plan is definately simple. He sounds like a bit of a party animal. Guess I can’t blame him. I think he will change his drinking routine if he starts to lose his look!
Seems like a pretty good routine, especially as far as celebrity workouts go. I think a lot of these tips are transferable to the average person. The workout is certainly challenging, especially for people who may not have been exercising for a while. As for the diet, I’m still waiting on the day that a celebrity says that they perform intermittent fasting rather than the 5-6 meals per day routine.
There must be high profile people that use intermittent fasting, but they just aren’t saying it out loud! The day will come…..
